Frequently Asked Questions

What is an intervention, and how does it work?

An intervention is a structured, compassionate conversation led by a professional to encourage your loved one to accept help for their addiction. It involves family and close friends sharing their concerns, setting boundaries, and offering a path to recovery. I'll guide you through every step to ensure it’s as effective and supportive as possible.

How do I know if my loved one needs an intervention?

Signs include worsening substance use, health issues, financial problems, legal trouble, or strained relationships. During a free consultation, we'll assess the situation to determine if an intervention is the right step.

Isn’t an intervention just a dramatic confrontation?

Not at all. Interventions are about love and support, not blame or shame. We'll focus on creating a calm, safe environment where your loved one feels cared for and supported in making a positive change.

What if my loved one is in denial about their addiction?

Denial is common, but our approach helps break through it by focusing on the impact of their behavior and the love and concern from their family. We guide the conversation to help your loved one recognize the need for change.

How involved will my family need to be in the intervention process?

Family involvement is crucial. You’ll play a role in the planning, rehearsals, and the intervention itself. We provide education, guidance, and support to ensure everyone feels prepared and confident.

What if my loved one refuses treatment?

While this is a possibility, we prepare for it by helping your family establish clear boundaries and contingency plans. Many people initially resist but come around when they see consistent support and firm boundaries from their loved ones.

How much does an intervention cost?

Costs vary depending on the services required. During our consultation, I’ll provide a recommendation for services then a detailed estimate and discuss payment options to help you make an informed decision.

Can you help us find a treatment program?

Yes, I offer treatment consultation as a service. I'll research and recommend treatment centers that align with your loved one’s needs, preferences, and financial considerations.

Isn’t addiction just a matter of willpower?

Addiction is a chronic disease that alters brain function, making it incredibly difficult to overcome without help. It’s not a moral failing or lack of willpower. Treatment and support provide the tools necessary for your loved one to manage the disease and build a life in recovery.

Can you work with families who live in different locations

Yes, I will coordinating interventions for families anywhere in the U.S. We'll use virtual meetings to start planning. I'll travel to your location, we'll rehearse together ensuring everyone is involved, prepared and on the same page. Then we'll conduct the Intervention and get your loved one safely to Treatment.

Why can’t we handle this ourselves?

By the time you’re considering an intervention, chances are you’ve already tried numerous times to get your loved one to stop using, only to be met with broken promises or manipulation. Addiction is a disease that requires professional treatment and support. As interventionists, we bring an objective perspective and a firm yet compassionate approach that’s often impossible for families to maintain on their own. Our presence demonstrates unity, seriousness, and a commitment to change, making it harder for your loved one to avoid accountability.

Will an intervention damage our relationship with our loved one?

When done properly, interventions often strengthen relationships. They show your loved one that you care enough to take action for their health and well-being. While they may initially feel resistant or upset, most people later express gratitude for their family’s support in getting the help they needed.
